Vacation Program Details

Where: in our family’s vacation house, in the village of Brebu Nou, part of the Trei Ape (Three Waters) mountain resort, in the Semenic Mountains, starting and ending in Resita, the oldest industrial town of SE Europe, Banat, Romania.

Period: 6 consecutive days starting anytime from July to mid-August, according to the first prize winner’s choice, possible during the Garana International Jazz (July) or Folk Festival (August). The festivals can be watched for free from a distance, or by buying tickets for the show area (prices start from €15 per evening).

Day 0 (optional)

• accommodations in Resita (for an additional €25 - €30 / double room / night), optional before or after this vacation

Day 1

• Arrival & Welcome Meeting in Resita (9 AM - 10 AM)
• Visit Resita: the Open Air Steam Locomotives Museum, the UCMR (a historic heavy machinery factory), the old town, the 1904 built "Grebla" Power Station (10 AM - 1 PM)
• A snack / picnic (1 PM - 2 PM)
• Travel (40 km) to the "Trei Ape" area, visiting on the way the Gozna, Breazova and Trei Ape artificial lakes and dams, hiking to the Breazova Micro Power Station (built in 1916), on the Barzava's superior valley, and visit the "Klaus Villa", an 1808 built hunting domain and the Valiug Trout Farm (2 PM - 7 PM)
• Dinner and accommodation in Brebu Nou (7 PM)

Day 2

• Breakfast (8 AM - 10 AM)
• Visit our village, Brebu Nou, a former bohemian village (currently a vacation resort) and a short break / swim in the "Trei Ape" lake (10 AM - 1 PM)
• Lunch (1 PM - 2 PM)
• Travel (40 km) to the Semenic mountain and peak (1437 meters high), visiting on the way the nearby Garana village, the Semenic Meteorological Station, and entering Europe's largest virgin forest reservation (2 PM - 7 PM)
• Dinner and accommodation in Brebu Nou (7 PM)

Day 3

• Breakfast (8 AM - 9 AM)
• Day trip (200 km) to the Herculane Baths, the Danube Iron Gates Hydro Power Station (2200 MW, the biggest in the European Union), a boat cruise through the Danube Narrow Path to the Ponicova Cave, a "backpack" lunch/snack (9 AM - 7 PM)
• Dinner and accommodation in Brebu Nou (7 PM)

Day 4, 5

• Breakfast (8 AM - 9 AM)
• Local activities by choice: swimming in the lake, fishing, hiking (20 km loop) through the forest to Lindenfeld (a picturesque abandoned German village), biking, activities in a cow farm, horse riding, sculpture, cooking (9 AM - 1 PM)
• Lunch (1 PM - 2 PM)
• Local activities by choice (2 PM - 7 PM)
• Dinner and accommodation in Brebu Nou (7 PM)
• Camp fire in the evening

Day 6

• Breakfast (8 AM - 9 AM)
